
NorAid. The Medical treatment kit system, for use in disaster, emergency
and developing programmes. Health for all within year 2000, the proclamation
was made by WHO in Alma Ata in 1978. Every human being should have access
to a minimum level of health care services, as defined by the eight elements
of primary health care system:
- Education
- Local disease control
- Expanded programme of immunization
- Mother/child, health and family planning
- Essential drugs
- Nutrition and food supplies
- Treatment of minor diseases
- Safe water supply and sanitation
The NorAid system is especially designed to meet the above mentioned demands,
not only in an emergency situation, but also on a permanent basis, which
means in practice;
- To reach the most vulnerable groups, means in practice to fight the
children under five years mortality rate, and the mortality among women,
related to pregnancy and delivery.
- To care for epidiologic surveillance, disease control and treatment.
- To initiate, prepare and maintain vaccination programmes and primary
health care in distress and disaster situations.
- To supply a population group with sufficient quantity of clean water.
- To stabilize wounded patients and provide acute surgery if needed.
- To train local health personell and unskilled personell to maintain
the activities after withdrawal of expatriates.
The NorAid system is a self contained unit. However, the system fits easily
into most kinds of already existing outpatient departments, dispensaries,
health posts, hospitals, tents etc.
The NorAid system is a multi module system that can be delivered complete,
or module by module, optional according to your needs.
The modules are estimated to cover the needs for preventional health care,
curative activities and education.
The system also includes a technical module with generator, lighting equipment
and a water purification module with complete water purification system,
capacity 2300 litres/hour.
Most of the equipment is smartly packed in lightweight, durable and splashproof
plywood cases. To facilitate classification and organization in the field,
all the cases are clearly marked with different numbers and colours, identical
to those in the NorAid catalogue.
